Sanitation Manager
Job Summary
Oversee sanitation programs and ensures compliance with food safety standards. At FiveStar Gourmet Foods, we operate in a fully paperless and digital QA environment, leveraging best-in-class technology to ensure accuracy, traceability, and real-time quality management across all departments.
Primary Responsibilities
- Specific duties will vary by position but generally include support for operational efficiency, quality standards, team collaboration, and adherence to company procedures.
- Responsible for maintaining the integrity of product quality and safety by ensuring that all equipment and facilities are following GMP’s, company sanitation policies, and USDA and FDA regulations.
- Ensure that all work activities are performed with attention to the highest standards of food quality, safe processes, compliance with all regulations and policies and a focus on continuous process improvement.
- Manages, evaluates and directs sanitation personnel.
- Ensure compliance with company standards and systems to monitor food safety and facility cleanliness.
- Monitors overtime hours and supply expenses.
- Trains personnel on proper cleaning techniques and chemical handling.
- Promotes a safe work environment for all personnel.
- Works with Quality Assurance and Operations Manager to address any issues/ concerns.
- Maintains department records.
- Organize, develop and implement sanitation programs.
- Interprets labels on chemicals and cleaning agents to understand use, first aid instructions, MSDS’s requirements and warnings.
Qualifications
- At least 3 years of current progressive food sanitation supervisory and/or managerial experience in the USDA and/or FDA regulated food/beverage manufacturing facilities.
- Demonstrated ability to recruit, train, coach, mentor, groom, empower and lead high-performing Sanitation Teams.
- Strong technical knowledge and hands-on experience of developing, implementing, maintaining and improving SSOP and MSS programs.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with the regulatory bodies, key external and internal stakeholders to resolve sanitation issues, to improve SSOP and MSS program effectiveness and efficiency.
- Strong working knowledge of current USDA and/or FDA regulatory, SQF and/or BRC, and 3rd party certification sanitation requirements.
- Fluency in verbal and/or written Spanish.
Compensation & Benefits
- $73,000 – $75,000 annually, based on experience
