Quality Assurance (QA) Technician

Job Summary

The Quality Assurance (QA) Technician works with the entire QA team to ensure regulatory and customer quality compliance for all our products.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Perform ongoing shipping and receiving procedures for quality and food safety inspections.
  • Report to Supervisor in case of any non-compliance observed during shipping and receiving of products and ingredients.
  • Notify purchasing department in cases of shortage or rejection of deliveries.
  • Collect COA’s and follow up with supplier to receive COA’s prior to receiving.
  • Evaluate all raw materials per specifications. Compare COA results to specification.
  • Maintain Shipping and Receiving records on file and inputs data electronically.
  • Follow up with respective departments on shipping and receiving schedule updates.
  • Routinely conduct internal audits of Warehousing and Storage Facilities.
  • Conduct routine Environmental Listeria swabbing and Testing Procedures.
  • Participate in various special projects as instructed by supervisor.
  • Ensure control of Allergens and compliance with Allergen Control Program.
  • Ensure Organic segregation and compliance with Organic System Plan.
  • Follow due diligence in maintaining the established HACCP and Quality Plan Systems.
  • Audit and assure employee compliance to GMP guidelines.
  • Conduct routine sensory analysis of ingredients and finished products.
  • Report raw material and product quality issues and work to resolve issues and implement corrective action.
  • Oversee production areas to ensure adherence to USDA regulations and Company Standards.
  • Take corrective and preventative actions due to food safety or quality issues observed in production areas.
  • Manage the release or disposal of quarantined products and materials.
  • Update QA hold / waste reports.
  • Carry out shelf life testing and study for new products.
  • Analyze microbial data and generate trend reports.
  • Carry out routine product hold and test procedures.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor in Science/Food Science preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in the food industry.
  • USDA/FDA experience preferred.
  • Must be flexible with schedule.
